“Robert Huggins’ 1984 hike in Wyoming and Montana included such unusual features as skiing the Wind Rivers via Texas Pass in late April and early May, and cross-country along the Divide from Goldstone Pass to Upper Miner Lake via Center Mountain.”

—Continental Divide Newsletter 2009

“I am delighted to have Robert’s journal, with its excellent pictures and reminders of the way the Trail was in the early days. I was particularly intrigued by the report of his skiing traverse of the Wind Rivers —I don’t believe anyone else has attempted this earlier than June.”

— Jim Wolf, organizer of the Continental Divide Trail Society and author of numerous trail guides.

Five years earlier Robert hiked the whole Appalachian Trail, followed two years later by hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail. Robert recorded his experiences on the Continental Divide using a small Olympus tape recorder and the tapes were transcribed for the text. When you read his journal, it is as if you were actually hiking with Robert!
